Caroline Selig achieved the diplom of the National School of Fine Arts in Aix-en-Provence (DNSEP). For her term-work she asked Alain Beauchet, at that time musician and maquetist, to help her build her monumental installations and realise the musical environment of them. In February 1992 they decided to build Artonik in Aix-en-Provence and moved definitively to the Friche Belle de Mai in Marseille in 1994.
The creations are exclusively presented in the public space and have integrated official programmations of french street-theatre festivals, as Aurillac International Street Theatre Festival, “Chalon dans la rue” in Chalon-sur-Saône, Viva Cité in Sotteville-les-Rouen, and international festivals as MALTA in Poznan, Zomer van Antwerpen in Anvers, Tollwood in Munich etc...
Complementary to these activities, the company takes part to cultural events and artistically coordinated Martigues Carnaval from 2004 to 2007. From 2008 Artonik developps a pedagogic project in departemental colleges.
